"Grease"- Broadway Bound Children's Theatre mainstage musical for Spring 2008

SEATTLE, WA - May 1, 2008 - Broadway Bound Children�s Theatre will stage 20 performances of the Broadway classic "Grease" in the ACT's Fall Theatre from May 9 - June 1, 2008. Four casts of child actors, under the direction of Jim Nixon and a team of supporting theatre professionals, will perform the original Broadway Grease written by Jim Jacobs and Warren Casey and featuring the smash hit songs "Summer Lovin'," "Greased Lightning" and "We Go Together". Grease is an all-American musical based on high-school life in the 1950s at Rydell High and their spirited class of '59. While a period piece, Grease depicts many of the challenges that face students today. Recognizing that peer pressure, negative influences, love and all the drama that goes with the territory isn�t a new phenomena; yet Grease is an opportunity to foster further connections with our youth through this multi-generational reality.

Bringing a new sensibility to Grease, Broadway Bound Director Jim Nixon has directed his actors to migrate towards affirmative and upbeat characters, illustrating that positive players can be equally and more powerful than the negative ones. The hope in portraying this rendition of Grease is that both actors and audience will remember this lesson of transformation long after the curtain has closed.

Seattle nonprofit Broadway Bound challenges children to develop their mental, physical, emotional, social and creative potentials through the joy and discipline of live musical theatre. The experience combines a fun and supportive atmosphere while holding actors to professional standards. To that end, Broadway Bound's founder and show director, Jim Nixon work with a team of musicians, choreographers, dancers, assistant directors and stage managers to provide a professional experience with high production values.

Seattle area child actors star in stage adaption of classic Alan Parker directed movie.

SEATTLE, WA - January 21, 2008 - Broadway Bound Children�s Theatre opens its second mainstage production of the year with nine performances of "Bugsy Malone" at Broadway Performance Hall, January 25 - February 3, 2008. Three casts of local child actors, under the direction of Molly Goldman, Molly Thomson, Austin Garrison and Jim Nixon, with support from a team of theatre professionals, will perform a stage adaptation of the classic 1976 Alan Parker film. Famous for its all child actor cast playing mobsters who shoot custard pie guns and sing, "Bugsy Malone" was an innovative hit on screen and now on the stage. Tickets are $12 reserved and available through Ticketwindowonline.com. The Broadway Performance Hall is located at 1625 Broadway at Pine Street.

Based on the 1976 Alan Parker film, "Bugsy Malone" is a tongue-in-cheek tribute to the gangster films of the 1920s. Parker commissioned the legendary songwriter Paul Williams to compose the score, and auditioned over 10,000 children for the original movie starring an unknown Scott Baio as Bugsy and Jodie Foster as Tallulah. "Bugsy Malone" was a surprise hit film and was first adapted for the stage in 1983 with a cast that included a young Catherine Zeta-Jones as Tallulah, but had adults doing the singing offstage. In 1997, the National Youth Music Theatre production featured children doing all the singing, dancing, acting and custard throwing which is more in the spirit of Broadway Bound's productions.

Stage production of MGM Classic features real rain onstage

SEATTLE, WA (ASCENDPR) - December 28, 2007 - Broadway Bound Children�s Theatre celebrates its 30th musical theatre production in Seattle with 10 performances of "Singin' in the Rain" at The Moore Theatre from January 11 - 20, 2008. Two casts of child actors, under the direction of Jim Nixon and a team of supporting theatre professionals, will perform a stage adaptation of the classic 1952 Gene Kelly film, complete with real rain onstage for the iconic "Singin' in the Rain" number. Tickets are $12 and available through Ticketmaster outlets and The Moore and Paramount Theatre box offices.

Based on the 1952 MGM classic movie, "Singin' in the Rain" tells the story of Hollywood's manic shift from silent movies to 'talkies'. For the stage, "Singin' in the Rain" has been faithfully and lovingly adapted by Broadway legends Betty Comden and Adolph Green from their original award-winning screenplay. Each unforgettable scene, song and dance, is accounted for, including the showstopping title number, complete with an onstage rainstorm. Hilarious situations, snappy dialogue, and a hit-parade score of Hollywood standards make "Singin' in the Rain" the perfect show for any fan of the golden age of movie musicals.
