AscendPR built and launched the Center School Community Association (CSCA) website in support of Seattle Public School's leading academic high school, The Center School, located in the historic Seattle Center. To provide The Center School's Parent Teacher Association with a modern internet presence to serve multiple communication, educational and social objectives, Ascend PR choose to develop the site with Joomla, a leading open source Content Management System (CMS). According to.... more....

AscendPR's president, Tom Wolf, "Joomla brought us a powerful extensible platform with thousands of add on options, a world-wide, first class development community and cutting edge design."

Born from the threat of closure in November 2008 by Seattle Public Schools, it was determined the CSCA needed their own voice on the internet. Our research showed one of the chief reasons TCS was threatened was due to ignorance, rumor, and an overall lack of awareness. While the school's website served well as a brochure overview of the school, the CSCA had no ability to timely update information, or express the views of the CSCA as a separate entity from TCS the school.

Among the capabilities identified to accomplish CSCA's goals were calendaring, event notices, news publishing, newsletter publishing, multimedia presentations, video and photographic galleries, distributed editing and publishing, RSS publishing, community membership management, forums and social media integration.

To achieve this wishlist, AscendPR tested over one hundred Joomla extensions before narrowing down the tools that presently run the site. Check out the website at: http://csca.thecenterschool.net
